OpenAI models are coming to Google Cloud Model Garden, giving enterprises another way to use them within an existing cloud environment. OpenAI and Google Cloud announced the agreement on October 21. Google says GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out now in private preview for selected enterprise customers; OpenAI says broader availability is planned in the coming weeks.
What customers can access
Google positions the three models for different workloads: Astra for demanding coding, computer-use and research tasks; Sol for agentic and professional work at a lower cost; and Luna for faster, lower-cost everyday use. The companies also describe Codex workflows connected to Google Cloud. Google says selected customers can use its APIs and connect local Codex CLI and Desktop workflows during the preview. That should not be read as general availability for every Google Cloud account today.
Purchases will run through Google Cloud Marketplace. According to the companies, customers with Google Cloud spending commitments will be able to use those commitments for OpenAI models. Google says the usage will appear on the Google Cloud invoice and count toward its Flexible Savings Plans. These are commercial terms described by the vendors; customers should check the terms for their own agreements.
Governance and future integrations
Both announcements emphasize centralized access controls, auditing and data governance for enterprises using third-party models. Google says prompts, context and outputs will remain within the customer's designated data perimeter and will not be used to train foundation models. It describes zero-data-retention options and Confidential Compute as forthcoming, so organizations should verify which controls are available in the preview they actually receive.
OpenAI says its models will also become available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent. Google describes future availability in Gemini for business and Antigravity. These integrations are planned rather than part of a completed universal rollout.
The deal gives Google Cloud customers more model choice without moving their entire workflow to a different cloud provider. It also illustrates how AI model suppliers and cloud platforms can compete in one layer while distributing each other's technology in another. OpenAI explicitly says Microsoft remains its primary cloud partner.
